Be #FDNYSmart with Candles
May 21, 2017#FDNYSmart School of the Month
June 12, 2017Hi Friends!
It’s Siren here to let you know about an important week!
June 1-7 is National CPR and AED Awareness Week. The week spotlights how more lives can be saved if more of us know how to perform CPR and how to use an AED, which is an Automated External Defibrillator.
Did you know that effective bystander CPR provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest can significantly increase a victim’s chance of surviving?
As a part of this special week, the FDNY is hosting a series of special events through its Be 911 CPR Program. It’s a free, 30-minute class on compressions-only CPR. The classes are taught year-round by certified FDNY EMS personnel throughout the city. The program has successfully trained thousands of New Yorkers in this life-saving technique.
The course offers:
- Instruction on performing compressions-only CPR
- Instruction on how to use an AED
- Practice manikin for use during class
- Take home instructions for follow-up practice
The course doesn’t offer CPR certification, but it can give you the skills you need to step in and save a life in the event of an emergency!
Make sure you check out my Twitter and Instagram accounts for more information on these events.
